What is the worst time to have a construction project done at your home?roofing repair

You guessed it correctly. It’s during the holidays.

Just imagine. Your roofing just gave way and opened doors for roofing repair. There’s no way around it, so you opt towards having the repairs done like you should.

But now your house is full of guests, you have to serve your Thanksgiving spread by 6 PM at the most, and you also have to pay ample attention to the roofers who are sacrificing their holiday just so they could provide your family with your well-earned shelter in a timely manner.

It is not your guests’ fault, it is not your mistake, and it is of course not due to any fallacy on the roofer’s part either.

However, the fact of the matter is that the busy day itself or the days leading up to it would be nothing short of daunting for everyone involved. It will be grueling for you, it will be stressful for your guests, and it will be exhausting for your roofing repair contractor.

And everyone has their reasons for that – so once again, you can’t blame anyone.

However, while you cannot wave a magic wand and have your new roof installation done in a second, what you can do is to take a few steps to ensure that none of you have to go through an ample amount of stress, while also making sure that your roofing repair or gutter repair work goes on without any interruptions.

  1. Move your guests to a hotel. While it might seem rude to ask your guests to leave, you do not really have to throw them out with their luggage. Instead, ask them politely if they would be more comfortable in a hotel while the construction work is taking place at your house. If possible, pay the complete or partial cost for the hotel yourself as well. This would ensure that your guests do not take away sour memories of their time spent with you over Thanksgiving, and instead garner happy memories from the experience.
  2. Skip on that big Thanksgiving meal. While this may sound like blasphemy to some, you can certainly skip on Thanksgiving meal for a year. Instead, treat your family and your guests to some takeout, preferably casual food, so that you do not have to fret yourself over cooking that large meal while having one foot out the door to check on your roofers every few minutes.
  3. Check the deadlines with your roofers. Another thing to do is to ensure that you and your roofing contractors are on the same page about the delivery deadline of your new roof installation. This would allow you to checkout from that hotel, start cooking meals at home again, and also make up with your guests for sending them off to a hotel like that.
  4. Arrange a few priorities. Another option is to check if you can arrange and shift a few tasks from the roofing repair here and there to make the process done early. For instance, if your current gutter installation has a crack or two in a place that is not really threatening the foundation of your building, then simply only get your roofing material replaced and ask your roofing contractor to get your gutter repair done later. This would ensure that you get your house back in order as soon as possible during the day of Thanksgiving, so you could have proper repair work resumed afterwards.

By following these few tips, you can ensure to get some stress off of all of your shoulders in order to enjoy your Thanksgiving as much as possible.
